Winning Team

Colchester School of Gymnastics boys have been competing hard lately bringing back a haul of medals. Jack Oakes, aged 8, won overall gold at the Pipers Vale Challenge in Ipswich beating off 17 other gymnasts from across the region scoring a total of 71.05, a clear 2 point lead from the silver position. He did particularly well on parallel bars giving a near perfect performance to take first place. He was joined by lots of newcomers to Colchester who had a great experience and performed well in their first competition.

These younger boys later competed at the Regional Recreational Apparatus Qualifier also in Ipswich where Samuel Nightengale, aged 7, took the overall gold position with a score of 41.85 in the 8/9 age group. He took silver on Vault and parallel bar and bronze for single bar and floor. Thomas Bradshaw was victorious with gold medals for his performance on floor and vault and Thomas Holden came fourth on parallel bars.

In the over 12 category Thomas Littlewood took the overall gold position with a total score of 42.50 and a great first place performance on single bar, silver on vault and parallel bar and bronze on floor. Josh Mitchell was in the same age group coming first on vault, Parallel bar and floor.

In th 10/11 year age group Callum Robertson also claimed overall gold with a score of 42.45 for an excellent all round performance coming first on all four pieces of equipment, vault, single bar, parallel bar and floor.

A huge well done to all the Colchester boys!!!                                    

 

Saturday 10th October

Out Of Age Regional Championship

Pipers Vale

Both Finnley Claridge-Larence and Molly Palmer performed well

in the 13+ age group and Imogen Mohammed in the 10/11 year age group.

 

A huge congratulations to Finnley who came home with a Gold medal.

MEDALS ALL ROUND

Colchester School of Gymnastics was the venue for the Essex County Voluntary Levels and FIG competitions. The club had an excellent day with every one of its gymnasts winning a medal.
In the level 4, 10/11 age group, Georgia Harris won the overall silver medal. She also took the individual silver for her vault. Imogen Mohammed just missed out on an overall medal coming fourth but won the individual bronze for her floor routine. Carys Healy came sixth but won the gold medal for her vault and silver for her floor routine.


At level 3 Kaycee Child won the overall silver and took silver on bars, beam and vault. Masie Corton was not far behind taking the overall bronze and with it bronze on each apparatus.

The level 3, 13 + age group, saw both the top spots taken by Colchester girls. Molly Palmer became County Champion winning the overall gold and added to this with the gold for her floor routine and bronze on the vault. Finnley Claridge-Lawrence won the overall silver and also took the gold on vault and silver on beam.


Level 2, 12/13 age group, saw Ellie Watson win the overall gold and individual golds for vault, bars and beam and the silver for her floor routine.

 


The FIG competition saw Eleanor Clifford win the gold in the 9/12 age group to become County Champion. She also won the silver medals for her vault, bar and beam routines.
Competition moves to Ipswich in October for the Regional finals.

 

  
Malta Medal Mountain

Gymnasts from Colchester School of Gymnastics have had a taste of International success. Fifteen gymnasts and their coaches travelled to Malta for the Gymstars International Invitational competition and returned with a haul of 16 medals.

Competition took place over two days and the standard was high as gymnasts from all over Europe put on their best performances. Saturday’s competition saw Carys Healy, in the girls 10/13 age group, take the overall silver medal. In addition she won silver for her beam and floor routines and bronze for her bar routine. Imogen Mohammed was not far behind taking the overall bronze medal and with it gold for both her beam and floor routines.

In the boys competition Josh Sage represented the club in the 10/13 age group. He put on a great performance and despite being just 10 years old took the bronze medal for his routine on the parallel bars.

Success continued in Sunday’s competition.  The 14/16 age group saw Finnley Claridge Lawrence put on a fantastic display to win the overall silver medal and take the individual gold medals for her beam and floor routines. Team mate Sophie Groves took the overall Bronze with two further Bronze medals for her bar and floor routines and silver for the beam.

Natasha Males represented the club in the 7/9 age group winning a well deserved overall bronze medal.
