Competition Results 2010

 

Pegasus Open 2010
Maidstone Leisure Centre

Maidstone in Kent was the venue for the prestigious Pegasus Open gymnastics competition. 

Gymnasts from Colchester School of Gymnastics put on stunning performances.
The boys’ competition opened the event. In the under 8 age group Samuel Nightingale came 7th overall
and also came 3rd in the floor exercise. Ethan Nightingale came 20th. The under 9 competition saw
Jack Oakes come 9th overall and 1st on the rings. Team mate George Dobson came 27th.


The event then moved onto the girls’ competition. The age 10 category saw
Kaycee Child come 10th overall with the 5th highest score in the floor exercise. Maisie Corton was
not far behind in 15th place and had the 5th highest score on the beam.  In the 12/13 age group
competition Emily Bowyer won the over all silver and with it silver for beam and a bronze for bars.

Eleanor Clifford was only 0.4 behind and came 5th overall but she won the silver medal for her
bar routine and just missed out on a medal for beam.
In the 9 year old age group Beth-Annie Fewings came 4th overall and came 5th in the
beam and floor exercises. Harriet Clifford came 8th overall and had the 6th highest score on floor.
Leah Mansfield came22nd and Sophie Clinch came 30th.

 

 

Young gymnasts from Colchester School of gymnastics are celebrating their success in recent competitions. 

The Bury Spectrum Novice competition - 20th June 2010

Jessica Oakes win Gold in the 8 and under age group
while Beth Fiddler came a very respectable 7th in a field of 30 entrants.

The boys also had a productive day as Thomas Littlewood, in the 11+ age group, won silver. 
Callum Robertson, in the 11 and under age group, took the overall silver and also had the
highest score on the pommel and in the floor exercise.

 


The Essex County Grade competitions were held in Colchester on 20th June 2010
 

At grade 5 Amy Rabett came 5th overall but came 2nd on the vault.

In grade 4 Letty Bailey came 16th.


Gymnastics and Martial Arts Centre – Birmingham
15th May 2010

The Mens artistic gymnastics Setwork 2010 National final was held in Birmingham.
Jack Oakes competed as part of the East team in the Level 1 competition.
The team had a fantastic day winning the silver medal. Jacks scores placed him 14th overall out of 60 boys.

 

Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre- Birmingham
28th - 29th  April 2010 and then 15th May


The National finals for both club grade 7 and compulsory level 4 were held in Birmingham.
Ellie Watson competed in the East Region team at club grade 7.
The East team came 4th with Ellie gaining an individual place of 25th but gaining 3rd on vault!.
Three gymnasts from the club competed at compulsory level 4. Tori Still and Leah Mansfield were part of the East team.
The team were once again placed 4th. Tori Still came 30th with Leah Mansfiel 37th. Beth –Annie Fewings was placed 53rd.


Ipswich Gymnastics Centre
Sunday 9th May


The Regional finals for club grades 13 to 10 were held in Ipswich and it proved to be a very successful day.
At grade 13, 11/12 age group, Amelia Perry came 6th. Georgia Harris and Libby Parker competed at grade 12.
Georgia won the silver medal with Libby just missing out on bronze by 0.3.
Grade 11, 12/13 age group, saw Billie Dale win the silver medal. In the grade 10 competition,
12/13 age group, Imogen Mohammed came 5th
.

 

Gymnasts from Colchester School of Gymnastics enjoyed success in a variety of competitions
held in London and throughout the region.

First to go were gymnasts from the boys’ elite squad. They travelled to London to compete in the prestigious London Development Open competition. Jack Oakes had a fantastic day in the Level 1 “in age” category, coming 5th overall. Team mates Sam Nightingale, Ethan Nightingale and Callum Chambers took part in the Level 1 under 8
category and came 23rd,29th and 30th respectively.

Ipswich was the venue for the elite girls’ regional competitions. In club grade 8 Finnley Claridge-Lawrence passed and came16th overall. Club grade 7 saw Ellie Watson pass and take the overall bronze medal. Ellie will go on to compete in the National final as part of the East Region team.

Competition remained in Ipswich for the Compulsory Level events. The Level 3 “out of age” competition saw Kaycee Child win the overall gold medal with Maisie Corton taking silver. At level 4 Tori Still,Leah Mansfield and Beth-Annie Fewings came 4th,5th and 14th respectively. All the girls qualified for the National finals later in the year with Tori Still representing the East Region team whilst Leah Mansfield is first reserve. Level 5 saw Naomi Siever come 6th.

Gymnasts from the general squad travelled to Peterborough for the ECGA General Gymnastics Apparatus Championship. In Level 1, age 8 category, Amelia Webb won 2 silver medals. In the age 10 competition Alice Elliott won 2 golds and a bronze whilst Olivia Turton won 2 golds and a silver. In the 11/12 age group Megan Sargent won 2 golds and a bronze. Saffron McDonald won a silver and a bronze whilst Ella Thomas took a bronze on vault. In the 13/14 competition Jennie Holland just missed out on medals with Sophie Triggs winning gold on floor. The 15/16 age group had Nicola Mitchell winning 4 silvers.

In the boys competition Level 1 11/12 category Alex Gray won 2 golds and 2 bronze medals with Toby Gray winning 2 golds and 2 silvers. In the level 2 13/14 age Josh Mitchell came home with 3 gold and one silver medal.

Finally, Jack Oakes represented the club in the East Region Setwork Qualifier competition and won the overall silver medal. Jack also qualified for the National final to be held later in the year.

Gymnasts from Colchester School of Gymnastics took part in the Essex County Gymnastic Associations club grade competitions. The club had a very successful day with all the girls passing their grades.

At grade 14, 8/9 age group, Molly Battersby came 10th, Catherine Parry 19th, Kiera Bays 21st, and Layla Rahmanpour 24th. The grade 13, 9/10 age group saw Sophie Clinch come 6th, Harriet Clifford 8th and Caitlin O’Reilly 10th. The 11+ age group gave the club its first medal of the day with Amelia Perry wining the bronze medal and a place in the Essex team for the Regional finals.

The grade 12 competition saw a fantastic performance by Georgia Harris who won the overall gold medal and the Frank Stevens trophy for the highest score on beam. Her achievement was closely followed by Libby Parker who won the overall silver medal. Dahalia Branch came 9th overall. Georgia and Libby will take part in the Regional finals as members of the Essex team.

Club grade 11,10/11 age group, saw an exhibition performance by Natash Males who was awarded the gold medal. In the 12+ age group Billie Dale won the gold medal to become County Champion and takes her place in the County team at the Regional finals for this grade. Emily Wood came 4th and is reserve for the County team.
Finally in  the grade 10 12+ age group Imogen Mohammed won the overall bronze and with it a place in the Essex team for the Regional finals.
